Normunds Bergs, born in 1963, is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of SAF Tehnika JSC. Bergs is one of the founders of Fortech Ltd. (co-founding company of SAF Tehnika) where during the periods from 1990 to 1992 and 1999 to 2000 he acted as Managing Director and General Director, respectively. Following Fortech’s merger with Microlink in 2000, and the establishment of SAF Tehnika, Normunds Bergs became CEO of SAF Tehnika and a Member of the Management Board of Microlink JSC. From 1992 to 1999 Bergs worked at the World Trade Center Riga, where he held the position of General Director and became a Member of the Board of Directors in 1998. He is a long-term president of Latvian Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry Association. Normunds Bergs graduated Riga Technical University in 1986 with a degree in radio engineering.

Atbilstoši projektā analizētajiem algoritmiem, var uzskaitīt šādas galvenās algoritmu grupas [Zhang_2021]:
regresijas metodes – izmanto esošo mērījumu virknes īpašības, lai modelētu kādu matemātisku funkciju, kura, savukārt, ļauj prognozēt nākotnes stāvokļus. Metožu grupa ir ērti pielietojama skaitlisku datu virknēm;
atbalsta vektoru mašīnas (Support Vector Machines) – pārraudzītas mašīnmācīšanās metožu grupa, kas izmanto datu punktus, uz kuriem tiek balstīta n-1 dimensiju funkcijas, kas atdala piemērus tā, lai attālums starp dažādu klašu piemēriem būtu maksimāls. Minētos datu punktus sauc par atbalsta vektoriem, uz kuriem “balstās” atdalīšanas funkcijas.

Visbiežāk izmantotās algoritmu sniegto prognožu precizitātes novērtējuma metrikas ir:
Vidējās kvadrātiskās kļūdas variācijas koeficients (CVRMSE – Coefficient of Variation of Root Mean Square Error). Standartizē (ar novirzes starpniecību) sagaidāmo kļūdu un sniedz novērtējumu, kas nav atkarīgs no mērvienībām.
Vidējā absolūtā procentuālā kļūda (MAPE – Mean Absolute Percentage Error). Sniedz relatīvu kļūdas novērtējumu starpībai starp sagaidāmo un novēroto vērtību, mazinot absolūtās kļūdas ietekmi.
Vidējā absolūtā kļūda (MAE – Mean Absolute Error). Sniedz novērtējumu starpībai starp sagaidāmo un novēroto vērtību.
Skanes Vidējā Kvadrātiskā kļūda (RMSE – Root Mean Square Error). Visplašāk izmantotais sagaidāmās kļūdas novērtējums, ļaujot samazināt individuālu ekstremālu vērtību ietekmi.
Determinācijas koeficients (R2) – Kopējā dispersija vērtībām, kas ir izskaidrojamas ar regresijas modeli. [Wang_2022] Šo konkrēto metriku neizmanto, pretēji pārējām metrikām.
Projekta ietvaros ir identificētas divas publikācijas, kuras var attiecināt uz sensoru izvietojumu un skaitu:
[Chen_2022] – autori piedāvā konkrētu šķidrumu dinamikā sakņotu metodi, kas pie dabīgas ventilācijas sistēmas ļauj optimizēt temperatūras sensorus tā, lai to mērījumi būtu reprezentatīvi, t.i. atspoguļotu pret tilpumu normalizētu vidējo temperatūras vērtību telpā. Šī metode patiešām ļauj novērtēt temperatūras sensoru izvietojumu, bet tai ir šādi būtiski ierobežojumi:
tās izmantošanai nepieciešams precīzs telpu modelis, kā arī gaisa kustības modelis katrā telpā;
ir būtisks pieņēmums – dabīga ventilācija.
Neviens no šiem faktoriem nav patiess projekta ietvaros izmantojamo telpu aprīkošanai un eksperimentu noturēšanai. Ir jāuzsver, ka pie mūsdienu energoefektivitātes prasībām, dabīga ventilācija ir drīzāk izņēmums nevis prakse.
[Egemose_2022] – autori piedāvā paņēmienu, kas ļauj ar salīdzinoši ierobežotu sensoru skaitu (PIR, CO2 un Elektroenerģijas patēriņa sensori) noteikt konkrētu cilvēku skaitu telpā, kas tālāk var tikt izmantots enerģijas patēriņa modeļos. Lai arī šis darbs precīzi neatbilst projekta risināmai problēmai, tajā ir daži būtiski aspekti:
Autori pierāda, ka ar 20% telpu pārklājumu ar sensoriem pietiek, lai salīdzinoši precīzi noteiktu cilvēku skaitu telpās. Eksperimentāli tas pierādīts ar izglītības iestāžu ēkām Dānijā un Kanādā. Tas ļauj izteikt hipotēzi, ka orientējoši 20% pārklājuma ir pietiekami, lai spriestu arī par citiem procesiem ēkā, kas saistīti ar enerģijas patēriņu. Šo eksperimentāli noteikto robežu var izmantot par bāzi projekta ietvaros veiktajiem pētījumiem un tajos sasniegto rezultātu novērtējumam;
Šo metodi var izmantot, lai ar cilvēku skaita aplēses datiem papildinātu prognozējošos modeļus, šādi palielinot to precizitāti.
Viena no projekta hipotēzēm ir “Līdzīgas uzvedības telpās esošie sensori potenciāli uzrāda līdzīgus mērījumus. Tādēļ tie nav jādublē, šādi samazinot kopējo sensoru skaitu ēkā.”.
Projektā izmantoti RTU DITF ēkā izvietoti sensori, kas nodrošina temperatūras, gaisa mitruma un ogļskābās gāzes koncentrācijas mērījumus. Sensori ir iedalāmi grupās pēc izvietojuma (pa stāviem) un pēc telpas pielietojuma – kabinets vai koridors.
Lai mazinātu kopējo kombināciju skaitu, veikta sekojošu sensoru pāru atlase:
Katrā kombinācijā var novērtēt minimālo mērījumu atšķirību starp visiem pieejamiem mērījumu punktiem. Vairākām kombinācijām šī atšķirība visticamāk būs nulle, jo ilgākā laika periodā daudzi mērījumi būs vienādi. Savukārt, tās sensoru kombinācijas, kurām minētā atšķirība nav nulle, var uzreiz izslēgt no tālākā novērtējuma, pieņemot tās par kombinācijām, kas nekad neatkārto viena otru, jo to vērtības nekad nesakrīt.
Atlase pēc mērījumu starpības, kad tiek novērtēta vidējā absolūtā starpība starp visiem mērījumiem katrai divu sensoru kombinācijai. Šis rādītājs var norādīt, cik vidēji līdzīgi ir divi sensori. Lai izmantotu šo paņēmienu, ir nepieciešams noteikt slieksni, kura izvēle varētu būt atkarīga no ēkas BMS (Building Management System) iespējām, kā arī citiem faktoriem. Šajā apskatā tika izmantos slieksnis 0,5°C kā vidējais rādītājs.
Vidējā kvadrātiskā starpība. Ar vidējo absolūto atšķirību ir iespējams efektīvi atpazīt ilgstošas mērījumu atšķirības, tomēr, ja rodas īslaicīga starpība starp diviem mērījumiem, to var nepamanīt, jo vidējais rezultāts var būtiski nemainīties. Savukārt vidējā kvadrātiskā starpība šādas atšķirības atklāj labāk. Līdzīgi kā iepriekš, arī šeit ir nepieciešams slieksnis, kurš šajā gadījumā tika noteikts kā 0,25.
Izmantojot atlases metodes, atlasītas 77 kombinācijas, kas atbilstoši paņēmienam ir vislīdzīgākās un veikta sākotnējā detalizētākā sensoru līdzību analīze, tās rezultātā filtrēto kombināciju skaits samazinās par 18 kombinācijām.
Vairākās tālākas iterācijās noteikti sensori, kas var tikt aizstāti ar citiem, faktiski nezaudējot mērījumu kvalitāti, uz ko norāda salīdzinoši nelielā vidējā novirze ilgstošā laika periodā. Vairākiem sensoriem ir datu pārtraukumi, tāpēc salīdzinājuma datu apjoms varētu būt par maz, lai objektīvi novērtētu to uzvedību izvēlētajā periodā. Papildus tam nav pieejami dati dzesēšanas režīmam, un pieejamais datu apjoms ir mazāks par vienu gadu. Līdz ar to vasaras periodā mērījumi var radīt būtiskas izmaiņas novērtējumā. Pagaidām ir aizvietojamās kombinācijas, kurās sensori atrodas dažādos stāvos, kas var mainīties ar augstu saules intensitāti.
Sākotnējā aplēse par 20% sensoru pietiekamību šajā fāzē nav apstiprinājusies (aizvietojamo sensoru skaits ir lielāks par 20%, apmēram 60%). Tālākie pētījumi tiek veikti konkrētu sliekšņa vērtību noteikšanai, kā arī citu metriku piemērošanai.
Sensoru rādījumu līdzības novērtēšanai izmantota papildus metrika - Laika dinamiskā deformācija (no angļu val. Dynamic Time Warping). Laika rindu analīzē dinamiskā laika deformācija (DTW) ir algoritms divu laikrindu līdzības mērīšanai, kuru ātrums var atšķirties. Piemēram, cilvēka gaitas līdzību var noteikt, izmantojot DTW, pat ja viena persona iet ātrāk par otru vai, ja novērojuma laikā bija paātrinājumi un palēninājumi. DTW ir izmantots video, audio un grafikas datu laikrindām — visus datus, ko var pārvērst vienas dimensijas laikrindā, var analizēt ar DTW.
Veikti sensoru iegūto datu salīdzinājumi, izmantojot DTW metriku ar mērķi salīdzināt konkrētus sensorus, kā arī salīdzināt rezultātu ar iepriekšējā periodā iegūto salīdzinājumu. Salīdzinājums veikts pa stāviem dažāda garuma datu virknēm 1 diena un 1 mēnesis. Papildus tam veikta dažādu stāvu sensoru datu salīdzinājums. Salīdzinot datus novērots, ka ir sensori, kuru laikrindas ir līdzīgākas un tādi, kas ir atšķirīgāki. Pie tam, ilgākā laika posmā laikrindas atbilstoši DTW metrikai ir līdzīgākas nekā īsākam laika periodam, kas ir skaidrojams ar konkrētas dienas atšķirību lielāku ietekmi, kura ilgākā laika posmā drīzāk ir izņēmums, nevis likumsakarība. Neskatoties uz to, sensoru vidējā līdzība saglabājas kā ilgākos, tā īsākos laika posmos, kas norāda uz atbilstošo telpu līdzīgo vai atšķirīgo uzvedību.
Secināts, ka ir sensori, kas ir relatīvi atšķirīgi no visiem izmantotajiem sensoriem, norādot uz telpu specifisku izmantojumu un to, ka šie sensori faktiski nav aizvietojami. Šie sensori ir relatīvi atšķirīgi arī dažādu stāvu salīdzinājumā, tādejādi var apgalvot, ka tie atspoguļo telpu unikālu uzvedību.
Atbilstoši sākotnējam novērtējuma savstarpēji aizvietojami ir ~30% sensoru, kuru DTW līdzība nepārsniedz 50. Šāds novērtējums atbilst sākotnējai aplēsei un ir optimistiskāks nekā izmantojot kvadrātiskās kļūdas novērtējumu. Secināt, ka, izmantojot pat salīdzinoši vienkāršas metodes, iespējams noteikt, kuru sensoru lietojums un uzstādīšana ir būtiska, bet kuri savstarpēji aizvietojami, šādi samazinot sākotnējo ieguldījumu apjomu vismaz par 30%, kas ir būtisks.
Rīgas Tehniskās universitātes (RTU) telpās Zunda Krastmalā 10, Rīgā, ir uzstādīts sensoru komplekts, lai, izmantojot to datus, izstrādātu paņēmienu, kas ļauj novērtēt ēkas termodinamiskās uzvedības prognozēšanai nepieciešamo minimālo sensoru skaitu, tipu un izvietojumu ēkā, pieņemamam prognozes precizitātes sasniegšanai.
Ēkā, Zunda krastmalā 10, Rīgā jau pirms projekta uzsākšanas uzstādītas divas sensoru bāzes stacijas un 141 sensors. Projekta ietvaros veikta jaunu bāzes staciju uzstādīšana un konfigurācija, esošo sensoru pārslēgšana un esošo bāzes staciju pārsaukšana, izvietojot divas jaunas Aranet PRO+ bāzes stacijas – vienu ēkas 1. stāva serveru telpā (telpa: D110) un vienu ēkas 6. stāva serveru telpā (D621). Esošie sensori, kas atrodas 1. un 6. stāvos ir pārslēgti uz jaunajām bāzes stacijām un dzēsti no esošajām bāzes stacijām. Veikta bāzes staciju instalācija un divas esošās bāzes stacijas konfigurētas ar jauniem nosaukumiem. Sešos stāvos mācību kabinetos, gaiteņos, lielās auditorijās, serveru telpās un 6.stāva tehniskajās telpās uzstādīti 103 sensori (CO2, T/RG un diferenciālā spiediena).
Veikta temperatūras sensora prototipa izstrāde. Izstrādāta ierīce ar četrām ligzdām, katrai no tām var pieslēgt patvaļīgas ģeometrijas un specifikācijas PT100 temperatūras zondi. Dati no visām četrām zondēm ir laikā savstarpēji sinhronizēti un tiek nosūtīti izmantojot bezvadu Aranet radio protokolu. Prototipa izstrāde ir pilnībā pabeigta.
Izstrādāti divi modeļi, izmantojot LSTM (no angļu val. Long Short Term Memory), kā arī tā atvasinājumus un papildinājumus - LSTM-GRU tipa modeli (no angļu val. Gated Recurrent Unit), kas ir uzskatāma par vienkāršotu LSTM tīkla versiju. LSTM ir dziļās mašīnmācīšanās mākslīgais neironu tīkls, kas izmanto atgriezenisko saiti. Izmantota Python pakotne PyTourch, kas ļauj ērti manipulēt ar dažādām tīkla struktūrām, kā arī abstrahēties no apmācības procesa realizācijas. LSTM tīklam ir iespējams izveidot dažādas modifikācijas, manipulējot ar tīkla slēptā slāņa (h) vektora izmēru vai to skaitu. Slēptajā slānī visi neironi ir savstarpēji cieši saistīti, kas ļauj modelēt pat ļoti sarežģītas un garas laikrindas.
Līdzīgi kā LSTM, GRU risina t.sk. izzūdošā gradienta problēmu (palielinoties apmācības iterāciju skaitam kļūdas gradients kļūst ārkārtīgi mazs, kas faktiski aptur apmācības procesu). Tomēr atšķirība no LSTM ir tāda, ka GRU izmanto mazāk vārtu un tiem nav atsevišķas iekšējās atmiņas, t.i., šūnas stāvokļa. Tādējādi GRU paļaujas tikai uz slēpto stāvokli kā atmiņu, kas noved pie vienkāršākas arhitektūras un ātrākas apmācības. LSTM modeļa komponentes vairāk koncentrējas uz ilgtermiņa īpašībām, bet GRU uz īstermiņa, neprasot tās balansēt viena modeļa ietvaros. Šāds kombinēts modelis var sniegt augstāku prognozes precizitāti salīdzinot ar vienkāršiem modeļiem.
Veikta visu projektā analizēto modeļu praktiska implementācija, izmantojot vienu un to pašu laikrindu, kā paraugu no viena konkrēta sensora. Programmatūra izstrādāta, izmantojot PyTorch pakotni, kas būtiski vienkāršo šādu modeļu īstenošanu. Atlasīti nejauši izvēlēta sensora dati par pēdējo mēnesi (apmēram 4000 ierakstu), kas sadalīti apmācības un testa datu kopās. Apzinoties, ka vienas dimensijas datu kopu ir salīdzinoši vienkārša minētajiem modeļiem, apmācībai izmantoti tikai 10% no visas datu kopas, bet testiem pārējie 90%.
Secināts, ka lielākajā daļā gadījumu GRU modelis uzrāda labākus rezultātus nekā LSTM vai kombinēts LSTM-GRU modelis. Lai arī kopumā GRU modelim ir priekšrocība skaitliski, tomēr novirzes visiem modeļiem ir salīdzinoši nebūtiskas. Tādejādi var apgalvot, ka visi projektā analizētie modeļi ir izmantojami tālākām izstrādnēm, kā precizitātes mērs, lai mērītu konkrētu sensoru izslēgšanas no sistēmas ietekmi uz prognozēšanas precizitāti.

The following decisions were adopted at the annual shareholders meeting of JSC SAF Tehnika:
1. Approve the reports of the Board of Directors and the Supervisory Council for financial year 2022/2023.
2. Approve the consolidated and separate financial statements of “SAF Tehnika” JSC for financial year 2022/2023 and release the Group`s Board of Directors from responsibility for financial year 2022/2023.
3. Keep the profit for the reporting year as the retained earnings of SAF Tehnika JSC.
4. Appoint “Potapoviča un Andersone” Ltd. as the auditor of the “SAF Tehnika” JSC for the financial year 2023/2024 and determine the maximum remuneration for the auditor of the Annual Reports for the financial year 2023/2024 in the amount of EUR 15’000 (fifteen thousand euros), excluding taxes set in the legislation. Authorize the Board of the Group to sign the contract with the elected auditor.
5. Approve the Management Board and Supervisory Council remuneration report for financial year 2022/2023.
6. Approve the following amendments to the Articles of Association of “SAF Tehnika” JSC by expressing Clause 2.4 of the Articles of Association in a new wording: “The person possessing shares shall enjoy the rights pertaining to such shares.”

According to the agreement No. 17.1-1-L-2024/96 concluded between „SAF Tehnika” JSC and government institution „The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia” of a project „Participation of „SAF Tehnika” JSC in international exhibitions”, on November 29 to December 1 company exhibited at "MJBizCon 2023" in Las Vegas, USA.
During the event „ MJBizCon 2023" there were presented Aranet product series. Visitors to the „SAF Tehnika” stand were mainly from different regions of the USA.

2023.gada decembrī AS “SAF TEHNIKA” uzsāk īstenot pētniecības projektu “Augstas veiktspējas mikroviļņu radio dzesēšanas optimizācija, MiRaDO”, Nr. 1.10. Projekta mērķis ir izstrādāt mikroviļņu radio korpusu, kas nodrošina tā optimālu dzesēšanu pie visiem komerciāli nozīmīgiem lietošanas apstākļiem (dažādas apkārtējā gaisa temperatūras, saules starojuma intensitāte, vēja ātrums) un radio komponenšu augstas veiktspējas darbības (saistīta ar paaugstinātu siltuma izdalīšanos no elektriskajām un elektroniskajām komponentēm). Projekta rezultātā tiks veikta statistiska datu analīze ar mikroviļņu radio reālajiem lietošanas klimatiskajiem apstākļiem un korpusa iekšējo temperatūru, pilnveidojot industrijas zināšanas par mikroviļņu radio produktu tirgus vajadzībām, precizējot kvalitātes kontrolei nepieciešamo termisko testu režīmus, palīdzot identificēt trūkumus esošajos produktos un uzlabot topošo/izstrādājamo produktu prasības, izstrādāts matemātiskais modelis (matemātisko metožu un/vai programmatūras moduļu kopa), kas aprakstīs mikroviļņu radio siltumapmaiņu dažādos klimatiskajos apstākļos, pie dažādām izdalītajām siltuma jaudām, ļaujot pētīt un optimizēt dažādu radio korpusu konstrukciju, pielietotos materiālus un termiskās dzesēšanas veiktspēju pie dažādiem elektriskās jaudas režīmiem bez fizisku prototipu izgatavošanas, paātrinot jaunu mikroviļņu radio produktu izstrādi arī nākotnē, kā arī izstrādāts mikroviļņu radio korpusa prototips, kas nodrošinās vismaz 150 W siltuma jaudas disipāciju termiski nelabvēlīgākajos konstatētajos radio lietošanas apstākļos un kas potenciāli tiks lietots kā AS “SAF TEHNIKA” topošā radio produkta korpuss. Projekta rezultātā iegūtās zināšanas ļaus AS “SAF TEHNIKA” ieviest tirgū nākamās paaudzes augstas veiktspējas radio produktus. Projekta izmaksas 51% apmērā plānots segt no Eiropas Savienības Atveseļošanas un noturības mehānisma (Atveseļošanas fonda) līdzekļiem un 49% apmērā no AS “SAF TEHNIKA līdzekļiem.

AS “SAF TEHNIKA” uzsāk pētījumu plaušu vēzi izraisošas gāzes sensora optimizācijai

2023.gada decembrī AS “SAF TEHNIKA” uzsāk īstenot pētniecības projektu “Zema elektroenerģijas patēriņa alfa daļiņu detektora optimizācija, Alpha”, Nr. 1.9. Projekta mērķis ir zema elektroenerģijas patēriņa alfa daļiņu detektora optimizācija, ietverot kameras ģeometrijas, ventilācijas un jonizācijas sprieguma optimizēšanu, pilnībā funkcionāla prototipa izgatavošanu, kā arī tā praktiskās pielietojamības robežu noteikšanu. Projekta rezultātā tiks izstrādāti trīs nomināli vienādi alfa daļiņu detektora prototipi ar noteiktu jutību, mērījumu diapazonu, kā arī pieļaujamajiem lietošanas apstākļiem, t.i., temperatūras, relatīvā mitruma un atmosfēras spiediena diapazoniem. Prototipu elektroenerģijas patēriņš atbildīs vismaz viena gada darbības laikam no divām AA standarta baterijām. Prototipiem būs elektroniskā izeja, pa kuru mērījumi tiks nodoti cpm (notikumu skaits minūtē) mērvienībās. Projekta gaitā optimizētie alfa daļiņu detektora prototipi būs izstrādāti tādā gatavības pakāpē, kas ļaus tos iestrādāt AS “SAF TEHNIKA” komerciāli piedāvājamos radona (radioaktīvas, plaušu vēzi izraisošas gāzes, kas veidojas Zemes pamatklintājā) mērīšanas sensoros. Projekta izmaksas 55% apmērā plānots segt no AS “SAF TEHNIKA līdzekļiem un 45% apmērā no Eiropas Savienības Atveseļošanas un noturības mehānisma (Atveseļošanas fonda) līdzekļiem.

Introduction of a new cloud computing service to expand data analytics capabilities of IoT sensors and ensure continuity of service (SAF Aranet Cloud Analytic)

AS “SAF TEHNIKA” continues to implement Project Nr. NP-2021/4 “Introduction of a new cloud computing service to expand data analytics capabilities of IoT sensors and ensure continuity of service (SAF Aranet Cloud Analytic)”.
In the period from 16.05.2023 to 15.11.2023, the remaining part of the high-performance equipment providing the new service has been delivered and installed: servers and server switches. Also, the development of an information system has been completed, which will provide expanded possibilities for receiving data.
It is planned to extend the project implementation period until 29.02.2024 in order to be able to carry out testing works of the new service in the created infrastructure.
SAF Tehnika Consolidated Interim Report for Q1 of financial year 2023/2024

In the first quarter of the financial year 2023/ 2024, the Group’s unaudited consolidated net turnover was5.3 million which is a decline of 53% compared to the first quarter of the financial year 2022/2023. The Group closed the 1st quarter of the financial year 2023/2024 with loss of EUR 1.47 million (unaudited).
The turnover of the North and Latin America region amounted to 58%, or EUR 3.15 million. Compared to the same quarter of the previous financial year, the turnover decreased by 60%.
The European region gave 28% of the turnover, or EUR 2.25 million, which is 27% less than in the Q1 of the previous financial year.
The decline in revenue for the quarter in all regions is due to the implementation of large-scale projects and sales volume in the first quarter of the previous financial year, when one of the highest quarterly turnovers in history was achieved.
The Group’s expenditures did not exceed the planned volumes and were generally lower than in the same period a year earlier. The Group continues to invest in the development of new products and product modifications.
The Group closed the 1st quarter of the financial year 2023/2024 with loss of EUR 1.47 million (unaudited). The result of Q1 of the previous year was profit of EUR 2.56 million.
The Group’s operations were long affected by the global shortage of various electronic components. By regularly reviewing procurement volumes and deadlines, the company accumulated material reserves during the previous periods to be able to fulfil most of the orders within normal lead times. Following the precautionary principle, the Group does not change its policy on slow-moving stocks. Total provisions for slow-moving stocks in the quarter (compared to the volume at the end of the previous financial year) increased by EUR 1.4 million and account for EUR 4.7 million.
In the 1st quarter of the financial year 2023/2024, EUR 698 thousand were invested in the acquisition of fixed assets.
To ensure liquidity, the Parent Company continues the Credit Line Agreement with Luminor Bank AS for the total amount of EUR 4.95 million. At the end of the reporting period, the use of the credit line was EUR 1.9 million.
Despite the modernization of the telecommunications market in the direction of fiber-optic communications, there is still a market demand for radio systems that provide enhanced data rates. Consequently, the Group continues to actively explore the market and problematic issues in order to be able to offer the necessary product modifications and create prototypes for next generation technologies. At the same time, the Group also develops IoT segment solutions in business and consumer segments to diversify, to create higher added value for SAF Tehnika product offering, as well as to increase the Group’s revenue.
The goal of the company is to stabilize the turnover level, which ensures a positive net result in the long run. The Board of SAF Tehnika remains cautious and refrains from providing specific sales and performance forecasts.

The net turnover of the Parent company in FY 2022/2023 was EUR 32.04 million, which is EUR 2.91 million or 10% more than in the previous FY 2021/2022. The Board of the Parent company proposes to keep the profit for the reporting year as retained earnings.
“SAF Tehnika” publishes its audited consolidated and non-consolidated financial statements for financial year 2022/ 2023 (from July 1, 2022- June 30, 2023) according to Section 56th, 5th paragraph of „Law on the Financial Instruments Market”.
During the reporting year, the development and improvement of the microwave wireless data transmission product line continued. The Group continues to actively explore the market and problematic issues in order to be able to offer the necessary product modifications and create prototypes for next generation technologies. Exports made 99.09% of the turnover and amounted to EUR 36.92 million, the Group exported its products to 85 countries worldwide.

By regularly reviewing procurement volumes and deadlines, the company accumulated material reserves (inventories) to be able to fulfil most of the orders within normal lead times. Following the precautionary principle, total provisions for slow-moving inventory (compared to the volume at the end of the fourth quarter of the previous financial year) increased by EUR 2.2 million.
During the reporting year, the Group invested EUR 1.76 million into IT infrastructure, production and research equipment, purchase of software and licenses, product certification, as well as in the renovation of premises.
The Group completed the financial year 2022/2023 with a profit of EUR 3.53 million.

SAF Tehnika Consolidated Interim Report for Q4 and 12 months of financial year 2022/23

In the fourth quarter of the financial year 2022/ 2023, the Group’s unaudited consolidated net turnover was 8.7 million euros, which is by 3% more compared to the fourth quarter of the financial year 2021/2022. The Group ended the fourth quarter of the financial year 2022/2023 with a profit of EUR 805 thousand (unaudited). The consolidated unaudited result of the financial year 2022/2023 is profit EUR 3.39 million.
The turnover of the region of the countries of North and Latin America amounted to 71%, or EUR 6.1 million. Compared to the same quarterly turnover last financial year, the turnover has increased by 14%.
The turnover of the European region is 22%, or EUR 2.2 million, which is 3% less than in the 4th quarter of the previous financial year. Compared to the corresponding quarter of the last financial year, the turnover of Asia, Africa and the Middle East region is two times less and accounts for 3% of the total quarterly turnover (or EUR 283 thousand). Total turnover fluctuations over the period are the result of projects of different scales.
In the reporting quarter, the Group’s products were sold in 67 countries.
The Group’s costs did not exceed the planned levels, and The Group continues to invest in the development of new products and product modifications.
The Group’s unaudited consolidated net turnover for 12 months of the financial year 2022/2023 was EUR 37.26 million, which is a 10% increase compared to the volume of revenues in the last financial year.
The consolidated unaudited result of the financial year 2022/2023 is profit EUR 3.39 million. The Group’s profit of the previous financial year 2021/2022 was EUR 6.09 million.

To ensure liquidity, in August of the financial year 2022/2023, the Parent Company entered into a Credit Line Agreement with Luminor Bank AS for the total amount of EUR 4.95 million. At the end of the reporting period, the use of the credit line was EUR 1.2 million.
Although the direct impact on the Group’s activities has been relatively limited after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine by Russia, the general uncertainty in the business environment remains The Group continues to monitor forecasts of possible cost increases and assess potential risks. The company regularly reviews procurement volumes and deadlines, and continues to accumulate inventory in order to be able to fulfil most of the orders within normal lead times. This applies to all SAF product families – microwave links, Spectrum Compact and Aranet.
The Group continues to explore market demand and problematic issues in order to be able to provide necessary product modifications, as well as continues investments in product development. The goal of the Company is to stabilize sales levels to ensure a positive net result in the long term.

AS “SAF TEHNIKA” sadarbībā ar Rīgas Tehnisko universitāti Latvijas Atveseļošanas un noturības mehānisma līdzfinansēta pētniecības projekta “Sensoru risinājuma un prognozējošo modeļu izstrāde optimālai ēku energoefektivitātes pārvaldībai” Nr. 5.1.1.2.i.0/1/22/A/CFLA/002, pētījuma Nr. 1.3, ietvaros ir veikusi prognozējošo modeļu un sensoru veidu un pielietojumu izpēti ar mērķi atklāt būtiskākās tendences un risināmās problēmas.
Izpētītas arī algoritmu prognožu novērtēšanas kvalitātes metodes: - vidējās kvadrātiskās kļūdas variācijas koeficients (CVRMSE – Coefficient of Variation of Root Mean Square Error), kas standartizē (ar novirzes starpniecību) sagaidāmo kļūdu un sniedz novērtējumu, kas nav atkarīgs no mērvienībām; - vidējā absolūtā procentuālā kļūda (MAPE – Mean Absolute Percentage Error), kas sniedz relatīvu kļūdas novērtējumu starpībai starp sagaidāmo un novēroto vērtību, mazinot absolūtās kļūdas ietekmi; - vidējā absolūtā kļūda (MAE – Mean Absolute Error), kas sniedz novērtējumu starpībai starp sagaidāmo un novēroto vērtību; - saknes vidējā kvadrātiskā kļūda (RMSE – Root Mean Square Error), kas ir visplašāk izmantotais sagaidāmās kļūdas novērtējums un ļaujot samazināt individuālu ekstremālu vērtību ietekmi; - determinācijas koeficients (R2) – kopējā dispersija vērtībām, kas ir izskaidrojamas ar regresijas modeli.
Pētījuma ietvaros veikta arī sensoru datu priekšapstrāde ar mērķi pārbaudīt sākotnējās hipotēzes par sensoru mērījumu līdzību un gūt argumentāciju sensoru izvietojuma metodes izstrādei, kas ļauj dažus no sensoriem izslēgt no sistēmas, jo to mērījumi ir tuvi viens otram un nav nepieciešams tos dublēt. Īstenotas vairākas salīdzināšanas iterācijas, kas ļauj noteikt atsevišķu sensoru ciešu līdzību un to potenciālu savstarpēju aizvietojamību. Tāpat arī noteikti salīdzinošu atšķirīgu mērījumu sensori.

Saskaņā ar līguma No. SKV-L-2016/152 ar v/a „Latvijas Investīciju un attīstības aģentūra" par projekta "A/S “SAF Tehnika" dalība starptautiskās izstādēs" īstenošanu, „SAF Tehnika” paziņo, ka laikā no 2023.gada februāra līdz 2023. gada aprīlim ir veikusi produktu “Aranet PRO Plus base” un “Aranet PRO Plus LTE base” sertifikāciju sadarbībā ar "ROGERS LABS, INC".
Sertifikācijas ietvaros tika veikta iekārtu testēšana saskaņā ar 47CFR part 15B, ICES-003 Issue 6, IEC CISPR 32:2015, un EN 61000-6-3:2007/A1:2011. A/S “SAF Tehnika”, kā mikroviļņu radio ražotājs vēlas, lai produkcija, kas tiek ražota uzņēmumā, būtu atbilstoša Eiropas Savienības prasībām. To apliecina kompetentās iestādes neatkarīgie testi un sertifikāti.

Expanded Aranet Cloud Services

On April 28th this year JSC “SAF TEHNIKA” invited representatives of companies, industry associations, municipalities, media and general public to present development, objectives and results achieved with widening IoT sensor data analyses services of its new cloud computing product.
The new service – SAF Aranet Cloud Analytic considerably widens functionality of the current cloud computing services provided by JSC “SAF TEHNIKA”. Using sensor data there will be the following new functions provided:
receiving sensor data in real time;
monitoring data quality or compliance to set conditions;
identifying data anomalies, sending timely alarms to clients on certain problems;
sending alarm messages – adaptable multilevel alarm signals allowing to automate monitoring of objects measured;
performing industry-based data analysis;
establishment of joint desktops allowing to share information among users from the organization
performing analysis of historical data collected in the service;
collecting lifetime sensor data eliminating the need for alternative solutions to archive historical data.
The new services will be provided in a modern environmentally friendly and energy efficient way. High performance infrastructure appropriate for big data processing deployed at two separate locations, therefore reducing the impact of external factors and ensuring uninterruptable operation 24/7, irrespective of network connection and planned system maintenance.
Aranet Cloud architecture is based on industry proven open code technologies ensuring horizontally scalable solutions. Using physical sensors data, virtual sensors can be deployed providing possibilities to use sensor measurements in more extensive ways. The use of “digital twin” allows for data interpretation at business object level by combining sensor measurements across time and displaying them as joint business objects. Aranet Cloud Analytics will allow combining business objects based on their relevance or location and user defined access groups.
Work is progressing on employing data analytics sample models for separate vertical industries. With improved processing, development of services based on machine learning and sensor measurement anomalies identified by data relations found in historic data and data retrieval is carried out to extend accessibility of data sets to process and visualization possibilities. Functionality has been added for forecasting planned anomalies with the ability for scheduling advance warning messages to users.
As part of the new product, the information system and the mobile application – Aranet is expanded to ensure receiving data from “Aranet4 Home” devices. Data transferring to the cloud solution is by public mobile connection networks and mobile applications.
For today, the following activities are finalized:
local data base for data storage in a mobile device;
provision of data received from devices in reception radius without involvement of user;
activization of mobile application and performance of work in background mood and
performance of synchronization in foreground mood (by opening application).
Currently work is carried out on development of synchronization mechanism or Aranet Cloud.
The new service is mainly developed for export to Europe, North America and South America.
Project is implemented in cooperation with company AutUP AS based in the Kingdom of Norway with main area of business in automation and implementation of IoT systems in different industries.
Project “Introduction of a new cloud computing service to expand data analytics capabilities of IoT sensors and ensure continuity of service (SAF Aranet Cloud Analytic)”, project No. AK-IES/29, contract No. Nr. NP-2021/4 is co-financed within the amount of 45% of project eligible costs by European Economic Area (EEA) and Norway financial instrument according to program “Development of entrepreneurship, innovations and small and medium companies” JSC “SAF TEHNIKA” has started the project implementation on March 1, 2022 and it is planned to implement it by December 31, 2023.

SAF Tehnika Consolidated Interim Report for Q3 and 9 months of financial year 2022/23

In the third quarter of the financial year 2022/ 2023, the Group’s unaudited consolidated net turnover was6.6 million euros,which is 23% less compared to the third quarter of the financial year 2021/2022 with a loss of EUR 974 thousand (unaudited).The consolidated unaudited result of 9 months of the financial year 2022/2023 is profit EUR 2.59 million.
The turnover of the region of the countries of North and Latin America amounted to 71%, or EUR 4.7 million. Compared to the same quarterly turnover last financial year, the turnover has increased by 11%.
The turnover of the European region is 24%, or EUR 1.6 million, which is 50% less than in the 3rd quarter of the previous financial year. Compared to the corresponding quarter of the last financial year, the turnover of Asia, Africa and the Middle East region is three times less and accounts for 5% of the total quarterly turnover (or EUR 351 thousand). Fluctuations in quarterly turnover are explained by the implementation of some more large-scale projects.
In the reporting quarter, the Group’s products were sold in 62 countries.
The Group’s costs did not exceed the planned levels, and The Group continues to invest in the development of new products and product modifications.
The Group’s unaudited consolidated net turnover for 9 months of the financial year 2022/2023 was EUR 28.59 million, which is a 12% increase compared to the volume of revenues in the last financial year.
The consolidated unaudited result of 9 months of the financial year 2022/2023 is profit EUR 2.59 million. The Group’s profit for the 9 months of the previous financial year 2021/2022 was EUR 5.14 million.
In the 3rd quarter EUR 301 thousand were invested in the acquisition of fixed assets.
To ensure liquidity, in August of the financial year 2022/2023, the Parent Company entered into a Credit Line Agreement with Luminor Bank AS for the total amount of EUR 4.95 million. At the end of the reporting period, the use of the credit line was EUR 2.4 million.
The Group’s operations were long affected by the global shortage of various electronic components. By regularly reviewing procurement volumes and deadlines, the company accumulated material reserves (inventories) to be able to fulfil most of the orders within normal lead times. Following the precautionary principle, the Group continues to maintain its current policy on slow-moving stocks.Total savings on slow-moving inventory (compared to the volume at the end of the third quarter of the previous financial year) increased by EUR 1.76 million.
Since the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine by Russia, the overall business environment uncertainty continues. Although its direct impact on the Group’s activities is relatively limited, the Group continues to assess possible cost growth forecasts and potential risks. The company regularly reviews procurement volumes and deadlines, and continues to accumulate inventory in order to be able to fulfil most of the orders within normal lead times. This applies to all SAF product families – microwave links, Spectrum Compact and Aranet.
The Group continues to explore market demand and problematic issues in order to be able to provide necessary product modifications, as well as continues investments in product development. The goal of the Company is to stabilize sales levels to ensure a positive net result in the long term.

AS “SAF TEHNIKA” continues to implement Project Nr. NP-2021/4 “Introduction of a new cloud computing service to expand data analytics capabilities of IoT sensors and ensure continuity of service (SAF Aranet Cloud Analytic)”.
In the period from 19.09.2022 to 18.03.2023, part of the high-performance equipment providing the new service has been delivered: servers and server switches. Work continues on the development of an information system that will ensure expanded possibilities for receiving data.
Also, knowledge transfer activities from the project partner Norwegian company AutUP AS, which are related to the provision of the assessment of the new service, will continue.
The project is planned to be completed by 31 December 2023.

Validācijas ietvaros tika veikta SAF Phoenix G2/G2+ iekārtu pārraidīto lietotāja datu drošības pārbaude atbilstoši federālais informācijas apstrādes standarta prasībām (FIPS) pēc kriptogrāfiskā algoritma validācijas programmas (CAVP).

SAF Tehnika Consolidated Interim Report for Q2 and 6 months of financial year 2022/23

In the second quarter of the financial year 2022/ 2023, the Group's unaudited consolidated net turnover was 10.5 million euros which is an increase of 15 % compared to the second quarter of the financial year 2021/2022. The Group ended the second quarter of the financial year 2022/2023 with a profit of EUR 1 million (unaudited). The consolidated unaudited result of 6 months of the financial year 2022/2023 is profit of EUR 3.56 million.
The turnover of the region of the countries of North and Latin America amounted to 77%, or EUR 8.1 million. Compared to the same quarterly turnover last financial year, the turnover increased by 97%.
The turnover of the European region is 21%, or EUR 2.1 million, which is 48% less than in the 2nd quarter of the previous financial year. Compared to the corresponding quarter of the last financial year, the turnover of Asia, Africa and the Middle East region is three times less and accounts for 3% of the total quarterly turnover. Fluctuations in quarterly turnover are explained by the implementation of some more large-scale projects.
In the reporting quarter, the Group’s products were sold in 60 countries.

The Group’s unaudited consolidated net turnover for 6 months of the financial year 2022/2023 was EUR 21.95 million, which is a 29% increase compared to the volume of revenues in the last financial year.
The consolidated unaudited result of 6 months of the financial year 2022/2023 is profit of EUR 3.56 million. The Group’s profit for the 6 months of the previous financial year 2021/2022 was EUR 3.49 million.
In the 2nd quarter EUR 532 thousand were invested in the acquisition of fixed assets.
In December 2022, dividends were paid in the amount of EUR 0.68 (sixty-eight cents) per share, or total EUR 2.02 million. To ensure liquidity, in August of the financial year 2022/2023, the Parent Company entered into a Credit Line Agreement with Luminor Bank AS for the total amount of EUR 4.95 million. At the end of the reporting period, the use of the credit line was EUR 1.87 million.

SAF Tehnika AS sadarbībā ar Rīgas Tehniskā universitāte ar 01.01.2023. uzsāk īstenot pētniecības projektu Latvijas Atveseļošanas un noturības mehānisma plāna 5.1.r. reformu un investīciju virziena “Produktivitātes paaugstināšana caur investīciju apjoma palielināšanu P&A” 5.1.1.r. reformas “Inovāciju pārvaldība un privāto P&A investīciju motivācija” 5.1.1.2.i. investīcijas “Atbalsta instruments inovāciju klasteru attīstībai” īstenošana kompetences centru ietvaros.

Pētniecības projekta īss apraksts –
Projekta mērķis ir izstrādāt paņēmienu, kas ļauj novērtēt ēkas termodinamiskās uzvedības prognozēšanai nepieciešamo sensoru skaitu, tipu un izvietojumu ēkā, lai nodrošinātu pieņemamu prognozes precizitāti.
Projekta galvenie uzdevumi ir :
- izmantot partneru rīcībā esošo infrastruktūru – RTU ēku Zunda Krastmalā 10, lai to piesātinātu ar dažāda veida sensoriem (primāriem un sekundāriem, kas ļauj netieši novērtēt ēkas uzvedību un lietojumu),
- izstrādāt ēkas uzvedības prognozējošu modeli vai modeļu ansambli, kas ļauj ar statistiski nozīmīgu precizitāti prognozēt ēkas uzvedību, kas izteikta projekta ietvaros definētu mērījumu terminos, piemēram, ēkas lietošanas zonu temperatūra, zonu elektroenerģijas patēriņš u.c.,
- metodes vai paņēmiena izstrāde minimālā nepieciešamā sensoru daudzuma un veida noteikšanai,
- metodes aprobācija projekta partneru rīcībā esošajās ēkās vai ēkā un statistiski pamatotu secinājumu veikšana par metodes vai paņēmiena praktisku izmantošanu nākotnes produktu izstrādei un integrēšanai.
Pētniecības projekta rezultāts - Tiks izstrādāts temperatūras sensora prototips, kas mērīs temperatūru vairākos punktos un ļaus noteikt temperatūras starpību starp tiem. Iegūta eksperimentu īstenošanas rezultātu datu kopa ar dažādiem modeļiem, modeļu konfigurācijām, sensoru konfigurācijām un darbības režīmiem. Izstrādāts programmatūras modulis prognozējošu modeļu apmācībai un izmantošanai datu mākonī un metode paņēmiens sensoru komplekta un izvietojuma izvēlei.
Iegūtās zināšanas pētniecības projekta laikā ļaus abiem projekta īstenotājiem saprast, kā interpretēt iegūtos rezultātus jēgpilnai secinājumu izdarīšanai, kā arī tiktu pētīts iespējamais potenciāls jaunizstrādāta sensora pielietojumam arī citos tirgos. Datu kopa kalpos turpmāko pētījumu veikšanai un Latvijas zinātnes sabiedrības stiprināšanai. Veiksmīga projekta rezultātā RTU iegūs papildus zināšanas par ēkas termodinamiskajiem procesiem un uz šo datu kopas bāzes tiktu izstrādāts ēkas uzvedības prognozējošs modelis.

Juris Ziema, born in 1964, co-founder of the Company, is Vice-Chairman of the Council and Production Director. From 1998 to 1999 he worked as an engineer at Didzis Liepkalns' private enterprise SAF. From 1987 to 1999 J.Ziema worked as an engineer at the Institute of Electronic Engineering and Computer Sciences. J.Ziema has graduated Riga Technical University with a degree in radio engineering in 1987.

Andrejs Grisans, born in 1957, is Member of the Council and Production Department Manager. A.Grisans has 20 years of experience in electronics and is one of the co-founders of SAF Tehnika. Prior to joining the Company, he owned and managed a private company specializing in electronic equipment engineering, production and distribution. From 1992 to 1999 A.Grisans was involved in entrepreneurial activities in the field of radio engineering. He worked as an engineer-constructor at the Institute of Polymer Mechanics from 1984 to 1992 and in the constructing bureau Orbita from 1980 to 1984. A.Grisans has graduated Riga Technical University with a degree in radio engineering in 1980.
Aira Loite

Aira Loite - has resumed working in SAF Tehnika in a position of a Director of Digital Transformation in September 2021. She has extensive experience in management, finance, administration and IT, gained in companies operating in local and international markets. She worked as an Administrative Director (2019-2020) in a food production company “Forevers” Ltd.), metal processing company group “Torgy Mek” as Finance Director (2016-2019) and as a Director of Torgy Baltic SIA (2018-2019). Aira Loite has been a member of the Board of SAF Tehnika, Finance and Administrative Director (2007-2011), Managing Director (2011-2015). From 2006 to 2007, she worked as the director of the Business Information and Control Department of SIA Lattelecom. From 2000 to 2006, she was a member of the Board and Chief Financial Officer of SIA Microlink Latvia. A. Loite has graduated the University of Latvia in 1988 and holds Masters degree in Mathematics and MBA from Salford University, GB, obtained in 2009.
