Normunds Bergs, born in 1963, is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of SAF Tehnika JSC. Bergs is one of the founders of Fortech Ltd. (co-founding company of SAF Tehnika) where during the periods from 1990 to 1992 and 1999 to 2000 he acted as Managing Director and General Director, respectively. Following Fortech’s merger with Microlink in 2000, and the establishment of SAF Tehnika, Normunds Bergs became CEO of SAF Tehnika and a Member of the Management Board of Microlink JSC. From 1992 to 1999 Bergs worked at the World Trade Center Riga, where he held the position of General Director and became a Member of the Board of Directors in 1998. He is a long-term president of Latvian Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry Association. Normunds Bergs graduated Riga Technical University in 1986 with a degree in radio engineering.

SAF Tehnika consolidated interim report for Q1 of financial year 2017/18

In the first quarter of the financial year 2017/2018, the Group’s unaudited consolidated net turnover was 3.92 million euros, which is up 3% or 100 thousand euros compared to the first quarter of the financial year 2016/2017.The Group closed Q1 with profit of 389 thousand euros (unaudited).
62% of the quarterly turnover (2.4 million euros) is made by sales in North/Latin Americas. The region’s result is down 7% compared to last year’s first quarter. Solutions tailored to specific customer needs still dominate sales in the region.
The turnover in the European and CIS region was 30% or 1.2 million euros, which is up 16% compared to the first quarter of the previous year, as well as equivalent to the average regional turnover.
The Group’s costs did not exceeded the planned levels but were generally higher than during the same period a year ago due to investments in sales promotion in existing and new markets.
The Group closed first quarter of the financial year 2017/2018 with profit of 389 thousand euros (unaudited), which is down 3% compared to Q1 last year. USD/EUR exchange rate has negatively affected the Group’s net results.
The Group’s net cash balance at the end of the period was 6.55 million euros
SAF Tehnika is the company with the long-term competence in development and production of microwave radios. SAF Tehnika will proceed with its work on new high-quality products for the microwave data transmission market, providing not only standardized solutions, but also product modifications in order to meet customers’ special needs, as well as searching innovative ideas for applying microwave data transmission. The Group is financially stable. The goal of the Company is to stabilize sales levels to ensure a positive net result in the long term. The Board of SAF Tehnika maintains cautious optimism but cannot provide certain prognosis for sales figures and operational results.

Net turnover of the “SAF Tehnika” Group in the 2016/ 2017 financial year was EUR 17.04 million, which is by 3.36 million euros or 19.6% higher than the previous financial year 2015/2016. The Group closed the FY 2016/2017 with profit of 1.747 million EUR, which is 822 thousand EUR more than the previous financial year. The Board of the Parent company proposes to pay dividend of 2 million euros.
“SAF Tehnika” publishes its audited consolidated and non-consolidated financial statements for financial year 2016/2017 (from July 1, 2016- June 30, 2017) according to paragraph 5 of section 56 of „Law on the Financial Instruments Market”.
Net turnover of the “SAF Tehnika” Group which consists of AS “SAF Tehnika” (hereinafter – the Parent) operating from Riga, Latvia, wholly owned subsidiaries “SAF North America LLC” and “SAF Services LLC” both registered in USA, in the financial year 2016/2017 was EUR 17.04 million, which is by 3.36 million euros or 19.6% higher than the previous financial year 2015/2016.
In the reporting year, the Group continued to work at the research and identification of customer-specific needs by developing and improving the offer of niche products. Additional revenue was drawn from the development of specific customer required functionality of AS “SAF Tehnika” products. There remains an increased demand for radio systems that provide enhanced data transmission rate and can be enhanced and updated in order to improve data usage. This tendency increasingly determines the direction of new product development both for AS “SAF Tehnika” and across the markets.
Exports made 99.36% of the turnover and amounted to EUR 16.93 million. During the reporting year, the Group exported its products to 77 countries worldwide.
“SAF Tehnika” has remained financially stable. At the end of the year, the Group’s net cash funds balance was EUR 6.5 million. The Group’s net cash flow was EUR 598 thousand for the period of 12 months of the reporting year.
During the reporting year, the Group invested EUR 368 thousand into IT infrastructure, production and research equipment, purchase of software and licenses, as well as product certification.
The Group's financial result for the reporting year 2016/2017 was a profit of 1.747 million EUR.
The Parent company’s financial result for FY 2016/2017 was a profit 1.675 million EUR.
The Board of the Parent company proposes to pay dividend of 2 million euros.

SAF Tehnika Consolidated Interim Report for Q3 and 9 months of financial year 2016/2017

For Q3 of the FY 2016/2017, the Group's unaudited consolidated net turnover was 3.77 million EUR, which is by 25%, or 0.75 million EUR, more than in Q3 of the FY 2015/2016, but by 13% less than in Q2 of this year.
The Group closed Q3 of the FY 2016/2017 with the profit of 324 thousand EUR (unaudited). The unaudited consolidated result for 9 months of the FY 2016/2017 is the profit of 1.15 million EUR, which is by 797 thousand more compared to the 353 thousand EUR profit which was the Group`s result of the 9 month period of previous FY 2015/2016.
60 % quarterly turnover was made by sales in North/Latin Americas and is by EUR 0.86 million higher than the result of the preceding quarter. In 9 month period the revenues in North/Latin Americas exceeded 53% of the total Group’s turnover. The turnover in the European and CIS region was 29% or EUR 1.09 million, which is a decrease compared to the increase in Q2, which was related to solutions tailored to specific customer needs. In the AMEA (Asia, Middle East, Africa) region the turnover was EUR 0.4 million and is equivalent to last year’s average volumes. In the respective period the products were sold to 44 countries.
For 9 months of the FY 2016/2017, the Group’s unaudited consolidated turnover was 11.9 million EUR, which is a 19% increase compared to revenues at the same period of the previous financial year.
As of the end of the period, the Group’s net cash balance was 5.4 million EUR.
During this quarter SAF Tehnika participated in several exhibitions in the United States that brought the largest US Internet Service Providers together. As well as to popularize the possibilities of engineering education SAF Tehnika participated in the Career days of Riga Technical University and the Institute of Transport and Communications. SAF Tehnika has implemented Net Promoters Score evaluation system to measure the satisfaction rate of the clients and to prevent the communication problems with clients and customers.

ENGenesis 2/7GHz BAS band communications solution utilizes a single high-capacity radio channel to support simultaneous bi-directional IP based video/audio/data communications providing broadcasters with high capacity private networks. SAF Tehnika Consolidated Interim Report for Q2 and 6 months of financial year 2016/17

For Q2 of the FY 2016/2017, the Group's unaudited consolidated net turnover was 4.43 million euros, which is by 25%, or 0.89 million euros more than in Q2 of the FY 2015/2016, and by 13% more than in Q1 this year.
The Group closed Q2 with the profit of 425 thousand euros (unaudited), which is by 112 thousand euros more comparing to revenues generated in Q2 of the previous financial year. The unaudited consolidated result for 6 months of the FY 2016/2017 is the profit of 826 thousand euros, which is by 221 thousand euros more, comparing to the Group's result of 6 months of the previous FY 2015/2016 (the profit of 605 thousand euros).
More than half of the quarterly turnover (51% or EUR 2.2 million) was made by sales in the European and CIS region. It was related to the development of data transmission solutions and products tailored to specific customer needs. This region’s result is by EUR 1.3 million greater than in Q2 last year and is two times higher than the results of the preceding quarter.
Despite the slight decline in Q2, the revenues in North/Latin Americas during the 6-month period exceeded 50% of the total Group’s turnover and amounted to EUR 4.07 million, thus demonstrating a 12% increase against the results of the first half of the previous financial year.
The Group’s products were sold in 51 countries during the reporting quarter.
The Group’s unaudited consolidated turnover for the 6-month period of the FY 2016/2017 was EUR 8.2 million, which is a 17% increase compared to the last fiscal year’s revenues in the same period.
During the 6-month period of the financial year, the Group had a negative net cash flow equaling to EUR 490 thousand. In December 2016, dividends were paid in the amount of EUR 0.34 (thirty-four cents) per share, or a total of EUR 1.009 million. As of the end of the reporting period, the net cash balance of the Group was EUR 5.4 million

She graduated from Salford University in 2009 with MBA, as well as Riga Stradins University in 2021, and holds a Master degree in Clinical Psychology.
